8vo premio Cátedra Abertis
El martes 19 de octubre de 2021, se otorgó el 8vo premio Cátedra Abertis en las facilidades de la Administración Central UPR, Jardín Botánico, Rio Piedras. Este año, por primera vez se concedió una mención de honor al finalista del Premio de Gestión de Infraestructura y Servicios de Transporte, el ingeniero Manuel Porrata Arbona, por su proyecto de investigación “Diseño geométrico de los registros sanitarios y su defecto en el pavimento flexible de Puerto Rico”. Su investigación compara el diseño del registro sanitario “manhole” usado en Puerto Rico, con los componentes estandarizados y adoptados en otras jurisdicciones, que promueven una construcción de mayor calidad en el asfalto.
El ingeniero Geraldo E. Jusino (Miembro - CMA) participó de la investigación como Integrante del Comité Graduado, en carácter de Instructor AD Honorem.
Anualmente, la Cátedra reconoce los trabajos de estudiantes de doctorado y maestría en ingeniería civil relacionados con desarrollo de infraestructuras de transportación y seguridad vial.
La empresa Abertis y su afiliada Metropistas, en alianza con la Universidad de Puerto Rico, establecieron en 2012 la Cátedra Abertis en Gestión de Infraestructura del Transporte, dirigida desde entonces por Benjamín Colucci, PhD.
Reconocemos a la ganadora del Premio, la doctora en ingeniería, Dra. Josie D. Bianchi Santiago, quien estableció un modelo matemático que desarrolla un estimado de los gastos médicos a los que podría incurrir una víctima de un accidente de auto, según las circunstancias del choque en el que estuvo involucrado.
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the 8th Abertis Chair Prize was awarded in the facilities of the UPR Central Administration, Botanical Garden, Rio Piedras. This year, for the first time, an honorable mention was awarded to the finalist of the Infrastructure Management and Transport Services Award, the engineer Manuel Porrata Arbona, MSCE, for his research project “Geometric design of sanitary registers and its defect in flexible pavement in Puerto Rico". His research compares the design of the sanitary manhole used in Puerto Rico, with the standardized components adopted in other jurisdictions, which promote a higher quality construction on asphalt.
Engineer Geraldo E. Jusino (CMA Member) participated in the research as a Member of the Graduate Committee, in the capacity of Instructor AD Honorem.
Annually, the Abertis Chair recognizes the best Doctoral Thesis and Master Thesis from the universities in the country where the chair is located.
The Abertis company and its affiliate Metropistas, in alliance with the University of Puerto Rico, established in 2012 the Abertis Chair in Transportation Infrastructure Management, led since then by Benjamín Colucci, PhD.
We acknowledge the winner of the Award, engineering Josie D. Bianchi Santiago, PhD, who established a mathematical model that develops an estimate of the medical expenses that a victim of a car accident could incur, depending on the circumstances of the crash in which he was involved.
