The Institute of Transportation Engineers held their annual meeting in Puerto Rico & contributed


Meeting to give the contribution to Mi Casa Resistente: Yamil Castillo. P.E. (President of CIAPR Foundation), Shawn Leight, P.E. (ITE-International Immediate Past President), Pablo Vázquez, P.E. (CIAPR President), and Zaida Rico, P.E., Ph.D. (ITE-PR President).

CMA is a Silver sponsor of the Puerto Rico Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE-PR). The 2018 President of the ITE-PR, Zaida E. Rico Rolón, P.E., Ph.D., is also part of the CMA team of professionals. In April 27, ITE-PR celebrated its 2018 Spring Meeting which had the theme of Transportation Resilience in Puerto Rico: Adaptation to Climate Change and Extreme Weather Events.

The Immediate Past President of ITE-International, Shawn Leight, P.E., who also visited Speakers at the ITE-PR Spring Meeting were: Shawn Leight, P.E. (ITE International Immediate Past President), Aurelio Mercado, Ph.D. (Potential Effects of Coastal Flooding on Inland Infrastructure due to Sea Level Rise And Coastal Hazards), Benjamín Colucci, Ph.D., P.E. (Status and Lessons Learned of Puerto Rico's Transportation Infrastructure as a Result of Hurricane Maria), Hans Figueroa, P.E. (Transportation Infrastructure Planning; a new framework based on Resilience), Tina Hodges (Resilience Importance and FHWA Requirements), and Eric Brown (Transportation Engineering Approach to Climate Resilience). the student chapters if ITE in the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez during that week, started a GoFundMe account for the ITE community to contribute with ITE-PR towards the recovery after Hurricane María. The ITE-PR chose Mi Casa Resistente, a community project to create safe and resilient homes supported by the College of Engineers and Land Surveyors of Puerto Rico and the College of Architects and Landscape Architects of Puerto Rico, as the recipient of the contribution.
