CMA is proud to join the sponsors of the UPRM Steel Bridge Team
The National Student Steel Bridge Competition (NSSBC) challenges student teams to design and fabricate a 1:10 scale steel bridge, which has to be lightweight, structurally efficient, easy to assemble, aesthetically pleasing and stiff. The rules of the competition are provided by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and vary each year based on structural specifications and building codes. Students gain practical experience in the areas of structural design, structural analysis, project management and manufacturing techniques, along with developing their teamwork and communication skills. The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez team has proven to be one of the top competitors at a national level, winning top honors thanks to the efforts and dedication of all its members as well as the assistance provided by their sponsors, which are key to the success of this team.
