More than 10,000 Federal-aid construction contracts are authorized by FHWA each year. Those contracts are subsequently administered by State departments of transportation and local public agencies that may not be familiar with FHWA's complex requirements for construction contracts. Recent FHWA program reviews of projects administered by local public agencies indicated that contract administration is a continuing high-risk area that needs additional focus.
On August 9, 2019, at the headquarters of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico, Members of the CMA Team successfully completed the Contract Administration Core Curriculum (FHWA-NHI-134077).
The two-day course was offered by Gilberto De Leon (Virginia FHWA) and Michael Loyselle (Kentucky FHWA).
The event was sponsored by the Puerto Rico Division of the Federal Highway Administration and the UPR-RUM – Department of Civil Engineering – “Centro de Transferencia de Tecnología en Transportación”.
